THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO CAME OUT AND AUDITIONED! WE CAN’T WAIT TO SEE YOU AT THE SHOW!!!

If you’d like to support us, consider buying an ad for our “Seussical” Playbill below:

AGES: Adults, teens, and children (must be 9 years old before November 18 and have prior stage experience).

EXPERIENCE: Since HCT’s fall shows have faster-paced rehearsals and more challenging content, they are best suited for performers who have previous on-stage experience and/or performance training and want to be part of a professional show. Our Summer Stars and Theatre Academy programs are more suited for less experienced young performers. So come prepared with your full focus and dedication to putting on the best, most professional show. It’s Possible!

VOICE: The show is almost entirely sung, so good, healthy vocal production and diction is a very important requirement.

DANCE: Dancing is a plus for most roles and a requirement for others.

‘SEUSSICAL’ CHARACTERS:

(If auditioning for ENSEMBLE – please learn “it’s Possible” from the Jojo section)

He/she pops up to help Jojo and the audience find their way through the story. Wise and attentive, he/she is physically adept and comfortable onstage leading the cast and improvising with the audience.

SOME DANCE ABILITY NEEDED

“Oh The Thinks You Can Think”
Oh the thinks you can think, Oh the thinks you can think if you’re
willing to try.
Think invisible ink, or a gink with a stink, or a stair to the sky!
If you open your mind, oh the thinks you will find, lining up to get
loose!
Oh the thinks you can think, when you think about Seuss!

SOME DANCE ABILITY NEEDED

 “It’s Possible”
It might go along down where no one can see, right under state highway
two hundred and three
Right under the wagons, right under the toes, of Mrs. Umbroso, who’s
hanging out clothes,
It’s possible. Anything’s possible. It’s possible, anything’s
possible.
This might be a river, now might’n it be, connecting McGelligot’s
pool with the sea!
And maybe some fish might be swimming, swimming toward me!

Horton The Elephant

“Alone in the Universe”
I’m alone in the universe, so alone in the universe, I found magic,
but they don’t see it.
They all call me a lunatic, okay call me a lunatic, if I stand on my
own, so be it.
Cause I have wings, yes I can fly, around the moon, and far beyond the
sky.
And one day soon, I know there you’ll be. One small voice in the
universe,
One true friend in the universe, who believes in me.

Gertrude McFuzz
A nervous and shy bird who is Horton’s next-door neighbor and goes to great lengths to try and impress him. Very self-conscious that her one-feather tail isn’t glamorous enough, Gertrude is also sweet, kind, and loyal. DANCE NOT REQUIRED BUT HELPFUL

“All for You”
I sailed on a junk and was practically sunk, for you.
I trampled through the trees full of furious bees, for you.
I slogged through a fog and a choking smog down a soggy slope,
Through a stinking bog, while my slip was gripped by a vicious dog, for
you. All for you!
All for you! There’s nothing that I wouldn’t, and I couldn’t, and
I haven’t gone through!

Then I made a plan for my self-improvement. No more crumbs I vowed, I

sort of a pill I should take!
Now I’m——- Amayzing Mayzie, As feathered as feathered can be now!
Amayzing Mayzie, it was all for sale! Amayzing Mayzie, the birds are all
whistling at me now!
Amayzing Mayzie, baby that’s my tail!

there never has been!
You’re the biggest blame fool in the Jungle of Nool, and I don’t
care who I tell.
Biggest blame fool in the Jungle of Nool, and I think so as well.
Maybe I’m nasty, maybe I’m cruel, but you’re the biggest blame
fool, in the Jungle of Nool!

General Genghis Khan Schmitz
He is not sadistic, mean or abusive but he is very proud of his military academy and thinks he is doing the right thing for his cadets. He is a comic character because he is clearly misguided. “The Military”
I’m General Genghis Kahn Schmitz. I scare children out of their wits!
But, you’ll see at a glance sir, my school is the answer for shirkers
and dreamers and twits. _
And in this case I’d say the shoe fits!_
The military academy is the place where he should be sent! _
We’ll drill the silliness from his head. I’m sure we’ll make a
dent.
We’ll teach him fighting and left and righting until he’s muscled
and tan!
A hut two three! “He’s pathetic”
A hut two three! “Unathletic!”
A hut two three! But I’m betting we can!
The military, that’s what makes a boy—– a man!
