Character descriptions: This show is a Farcical Comedy. All of these characters are larger than life!
HARRY WITHERSPOON – (LEAD-TENOR)-shy sweet-natured and insecure young Englishman, working as an underpaid shoe salesman in a dreary London suburb.
-Song- Mr.Witherspoons Friday Night
ANNABEL GLICK- (LEAD-ALTO)-Representative of the Universal Dog Home of Brooklyn. Annabel is the type who wears protests buttons and carries a bag full of useful things like tire guages and granola bars.
-Song- Times like these
LUIGI GAUDI-(SUPPORTING)-Boisterous and gregarious Italian. Luigi is a pivotal character, although his part is relatively small. He wears a beard, and perhaps an eye patch. As Tony Hendon, all disguises come off to reveal he is Rita’s love interest.
RITA LA PORTA- (LEAD-ALTO)- A woman with an extremely volatile nature and a severe case of nearsightedness. Things often get out of control when Rita is present.
-Song- Fancy Meeting you Here
THE DEAD BODY OF ANTHONY HENDON-(LEAD)-The preserved body of Harry’s Uncle. Never speaks or sings but is arguably the funniest part in the show. Actor who plays him must have great physicality!
VINCENT (VINNIE) DI RUZZIO-(SUPPORTING-BARITONE)-
-Song- Speaking French
ENSEMBLE PLAYERS-These performers double a variety of parts, including an English landlady; boarders; an English solicitor; travelers on a train; a French waiter; a bellhop; tourists; gamblers; an emcee; a French nightclub entertainer-a nun, a Texan, etc
